Student Reporter —

On April 15 about 70 people gathered in Rose State College lecture hall to put their knowledge concerning the theory of evolution to the test.

“Evolution happens no matter what,” said Mariëlle Hoefnagels, professor of biology and microbiology at Oklahoma University and author of the “Introduction to Biology” textbook used at RSC.

Students were asked to divide into groups of three and were quizzed about evolution. For each question a group answered correctly, they were given one or two tokens based on the difficulty of the question.

Angel Odom, Jaide Samuels and Amy Dominguez each won a $10 Starbucks gift card for collectively earning 19 tokens.

Hoefnagels expressed her gratitude with all the attendees “I was really impressed with the students,” she said.
