Terri Talley, business development officer at Allegiance Credit Union, led Couponing 101, a workshop to teach students the basics of saving money with coupons, on Nov. 10.

“All this stuff is money,” Talley said. “Every penny matters.”

Talley spoke about different types of coupons, where to find them and gave tips and described money-saving apps for smartphones. She also shared websites run by “coupon ladies,” who are women who coupon and use their websites to share deals and teach others.

Resources for finding deals and using coupons include the apps Shopkick, Wal-mart Stores Savings Catcher and Ibotta. Coupon ladies’ websites include ConsumerQueen.com and TheKrazyCouponLady.com.

Talley said apps are “where it’s at.”

Talley said to save money, don’t buy anything you don’t need and to use what you already have.
