Changing seasons lead to seasonal events held all around the country, including RSC’s own Fall Fest, a celebration for students, faculty, staff and clubs. Creative contests, charity events and more will take place during the four-day event, Oct. 20-23.

Fall Fest Event List

Canned food donations can be brought to the Student Activities office in the Student Center through Thursday, said Kirby Harzman, coordinator of Student Activities. Collage for a Cause lets students design and create a collage for a cause they care about, such as cancer, LGBT rights and domestic violence awareness; supplies and a work area will be provided.

Chalk the Walk begins in the morning in front of the Student Center. Students, clubs and groups can pick up a box of chalk from the Student Activities office and create a work of chalk art on the selected sidewalk; all entries must be completed by 3:30 p.m. Monday for judging.

Feeling even more artistic? Student Activities will host a pumpkin painting contest. Small and medium pumpkins will be available for everyone to paint, whether you choose to enter the contest or not; paint and pumpkins will be provided.

To warm up as the fall chill continues, the 5th annual chili cook-off will be held at 11:30 a.m. Student Activities will accept entries between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Also, teams of five can participate in intramural volleyball; everyone is welcome to play, even without a full team.

To wrap up Fall Fest, a movie night will be held at 7 p.m. on the lawn of the campus mall. Snacks will be provided, some in exchange for canned foods. Harzman said students, faculty and staff will be treated to a Halloween-themed film on a large screen and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the case of rain, the event will be held in the Raider Room of the Student Center.

Harzman encouraged students to post their Fall Fest photos to Instagram.
