RSC men’s and women’s soccer won both of their home games in an exciting fashion, beating Paris Junior College on Sept. 30.

Women:

The women played a hard, physical game. Within the first 10 minutes, both teams had scored a goal, putting the score line at 1-1.

Just after halftime, in the 52nd minute, the Raiders scored another goal to take a 2-1 lead. But just 12 minutes later, in the 64th minute, Paris scored a goal of their own off a free kick that slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands, tying it up again at 2-2.

At the end of regulation, the game was tied. Due to the National Junior College Athletic Association league rules, they were to play at least two 10-minute overtimes before calling a tie. During the second overtime, Raiders forward Mariah Williams scored an incredible header, giving the Raiders the 3-2 win.

Men:

The men started off a little slow but eventually got the ball rolling.

In the 20th minute, Raiders midfielder Gavin Hale scored the game’s first goal, putting them up 1-0. Nineteen minutes later, in the 39th minute, forward Harrison Sikes scored another goal to put the Raiders up 2-0.

Just before halftime, the Raiders managed to score again, taking a commanding 3-0 lead over Paris.

In the second half, the Raiders played well but never scored. For the last few minutes of the game, the Raiders’ defense came under fire.

In the end, they were able to keep a clean sheet, prevailing 3-0.
