Nineteen teams participated in Relay for Life of Mid-Del and raised more than $30,000 for the American Cancer Society Sept. 12-13 in the Student Center.
Teams such as Hippies for Hope, TFCU Jet Setters, Lollipop Guild and Grease Lightning all walked to raise money. Some teams had booths set-up to fundraise by selling food, jewelry and more.
The first lap taken was to recognize and celebrate survivors for their courage to fight cancer. Some of the laps had themes, such as 1950’s, 1980’s and crazy hair.
The event also included a silent auction where attendees bid on baskets full of goodies, ranging from women’s make-up to decorative wreaths.
Dawn Knight, event organizer and captain of Hippies for Hope, recognized the Relay for Life sponsors, which included Kimray, Chick-fil-a and Tinker Federal Credit Union.
